VIDEO DIRECTOR READ ME
Setting Up
----------
Video Director contains special cables for interfacing a camcorder and an
infrared controllable VCR to your Amiga. These cables connect to the Amiga's
serial port and to the second joystick port. As stated in the Video Director
manual, please remember to:
_______________________________________________________________

MAKE SURE YOUR AMIGA AND VIDEO EQUIPMENT IS TURNED OFF BEFORE
CONNECTING EITHER OF THE INCLUDED CABLES. FAILURE TO DO SO
COULD RESULT IN DAMAGE TO YOUR AMIGA OR VIDEO EQUIPMENT.

NEC PC-VCR
----------
Video Director now supports the NEC PC-VCR. To interface the PC-VCR with
your Amiga, connect the serial cable supplied with the unit to the serial
port on the back of the VCR, and connect the other end to the Amiga's
serial port.
Selectra/AG1960 Configuration
-----------------------------
There are a number of new installation parameters for those using the
AG-1960 RS or AG-1960 with VuPort option. These Parameters will appear
in the Install Drivers program during installation. The Parameters are:
1) SERIAL DEVICE: If you have connected one or more AG-1960s to a multi
serial port board, you need to indicate to Video Director which serial
device corresponds to that board.
SERIAL UNIT: Indicates which serial port the AG-1960 is connected to.
2) SEARCH MODE: There are two possible search modes available from Video
Director for the AG-1960; Fine and Coarse. Selecting Coarse will yield
the fastest possible seek/search times, while selecting Fine will
result in slower seeks but improved frame accuracy during tape assembly.
3) VuPort Link: If you are using two AG-1960's (one for the source deck
and one for the record deck) in conjunction with the dual-deck VuPort
interface, make sure this option is selected for both decks.
SONY V-Box Users
----------------
If you are controlling a source deck with the Sony V-Box interface, note
that although the seek accuracy in the main Video Director screen is
only +/- 1 second, the actual accuracy for tape assembly is much better.
This allows for very quick clip previewing while maintaining accurate
edits.
Seek Abort
----------
It is now possible to abort a seek to a specified tape clip simply by
clicking on the "STOP" button in the transport cluster.
LANC Driver Reset
-----------------
When using one of the three LANC drivers, the tape counter display in the
transport cluster may, from time to time, stop advancing and will need to be
reset. This can be done by simply clicking in the counter display area with
the left mouse button.
Minimal Memory Machines
-----------------------
If you are running Video Director on an Amiga with 1 Meg of memory or less,
there may be restrictions on the screen resolution of IFF graphics you can
use for genlocked overlays. If you experience problems during tape assembly
with Overlay events, you may need to alter your graphics so that they are
non-overscanned images.
